Mariner Health Care (Mariner) is the one of the largest providers of long-term health care services in the United States. Services are provided through skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and long-term acute care hospitals (LTACs). As of December, 2004, Mariner, through its operating subsidiaries, owned, leased or managed approximately 252 skilled nursing and two assisted living facilities as well as 12 long-term acute care hospitals representing approximately 32,000 beds across the country. Mariner has significant facility concentrations in five states and several metropolitan markets, and it is among the largest providers of long-term health care services based on the number of licensed beds in these states and metropolitan markets. Cornerstone Healthcare Group, a division of Mariner Healthcare, through its subsidiaries and affiliates, is a growing operator of long-term acute care hospitals. Mariner completed its merger in December 2004 with NCARE Acquisition Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of National Senior Care, which is a privately held company. |
