Walgreens is the nation's largest drugstore chain with fiscal 2008 sales of $59 billion. Walgreens filled 617 million prescriptions in fiscal 2008. Walgreens also operates home care facilities and specialty, institutional and mail service pharmacies. Its Take Care Health Systems subsidiary manages convenient care clinics and worksite health centers. Walgreens, as of August 31, 2009, operated nearly 7,500 total locations, including: nearly 7,000 drugstores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico; drugstores with drive-thru pharmacies: 6,069; locations with one-hour photofinishing: 6,780; and locations open 24 hours: 1,593. |
