Pharmaceutical Care Network (PCN) is a pharmacist-run company that manages prescription drug benefit programs for more than 2 million people, including 1.2 million in managed Medicaid plans and 800,000 in commercial or private sector plans. PCN provides PBM services, healthcare, data services and healthcare management programs to commercial and multiple managed Medicaid plans nationwide. PCN expected revenues of $573 million in 2002. PCN distinguished itself from its competitors by keeping pharmacy cost increases for its clients down to an average of 12.2% versus outpatient prescription spending in retail stores which jumped to 17.1%. PCN has outperformed health industry trends by nearly 30%, saving its commercial clients from soaring drug costs.
