Consorta is a leading health care resource management and group purchasing organization whose shareholders are Catholic-sponsored, faith-based or non-profit health systems. Consorta is the third largest GPO in the nation in purchases per facility. Formed in 1998 as a cooperative, Consorta's shareholders and participants fully share in the organization's bottom line, as well as receiving significant discounts through scale purchasing economies. Consorta's membership spans 50 states and encompasses over 400 acute care facilities with nearly 56,000 beds, and more than 1,700 non-acute care sites. Consorta's purchasing volume exceeds $3 billion annually. Consorta's contract coverage includes alternate care, cardiovascular, medical/surgical, laboratory, pharmacy, food service, facilities, imaging, dietary and capital equipment. Consorta's shareholders receive an average of 67% of its annual revenue as a cash distribution.
