As defined in the Medicare prescription drug benefit regulations issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), MTM programs are defined as programs of drug therapy management whose goal is to ensure that medications provided to the eligible beneficiaries are appropriately used to: optimize therapeutic outcomes through improved medication use; and, to reduce the risk of adverse events.
