PharMerica Corporation (PharMerica) is an industry-leading pharmaceutical services company serving patients in hospital and long-term care settings. PharMerica was formed in October 2006 when AmerisourceBergen Corporation and Kindred Healthcare combined their respective institutional pharmacy businesses, Kindred Pharmacy Services and PharMerica Long-Term Care into a new, independent, publicly traded company. PharMerica is the second largest institutional pharmacy services company in the United States based upon pro forma revenues for its combined businesses for the year ended December 31, 2006. As of June 30, 2007 on a pro forma basis, the combined businesses operated more than 120 institutional pharmacies in 40 states. PharMerica's customers are typically institutional healthcare providers, such as nursing centers, assisted living facilities, hospitals and other long-term alternative care settings. PharMerica is generally the primary source of supply of pharmaceuticals for its customers. PharMerica also provides pharmacy management services to 81 hospitals operated by Kindred Healthcare.
